2016 Schooner Fall Classic Tournament Field

University of Oklahoma 

Head Coach – Veronique Drouin-Luttrell
Key Returner – Hannah Wood (JUNIOR)
Previous Finishes –6th (2015), 15th (2014), 2nd (2013)

The young Sooner women’s golf team is returning every player from the 2015-16 campaign and is adding one talented freshman to the line-up.  Last season was highlighted with two top-five finishes, including a top-five finish at The Big 12 Conference Championship.

 

Mississippi State

Head Coach – Ginger Brown-Lemm

Previous Finishes – 3rd (2015), 1st (2014)

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will be playing in their third Schooner Fall Classic.   Their twenty-two under par total at The 2014 Schooner Fall Classic is the lowest team score which also includes a competitive course record of 63, fired by then senior Ally McDonald.

 

Texas A&M

Head Coach – Trelle McCombs

Previous Finishes – 2nd (2015), 3rd (2014), 9th (2013)

The Texas A&M Aggies have played in every Schooner Fall Classic we have hosted and will return to this year's event with every player from the 2015-16 campaign.  One win and six top-five finishes in 2015-2016 propelled the Aggies to their sixteenth straight NCAA Regional appearance. 

 

Florida State
Head Coach – Amy Bond
Key Returner – Lydia Guam (Junior)
Previous Finishes – T7th (2015), 13th (2014), 8th (2013)

The Florida State Seminoles finished the 2015-2016 season ranked 19th nationally.  Their year was highlighted with two wins and included nine top-five finishes.  The Seminoles made their eleventh straight NCAA Regional appearance in 2016 and finished second at the Regional Championship.

 

Texas State

Head Coach – LISA STROM

Previous Finishes – 9TH (2015), T16th (2014), 15th (2013)

The Texas State Bobcats are coming off a year that was highlighted by a first place finish in the Sun Belt Conference.  The Bobcats have qualified for NCAA Regionals in five of the last six seasons. 

 

Clemson

Head Coach – KELLEY HESTER
Key Returner – ALICE HEWSON (Sophomore)
Previous Finishes – t16tH (2014)

The Clemson Tigers will be making their second trip to The Schooner Fall Classic in 2016.  The 2015-16 campaign was highlighted with five top-five finishes and a second NCAA Regional appearance in just three years of existence.

 

Notre Dame

Head Coach – Susan Holt
Key Returner – EMMA ALBRECHT (SOPHOMORE) 
Previous Finishes – 5TH (2015), T8th (2014)

Coming off a fifth place finish in their second trip to The Schooner Fall Classic, The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will look to build on that performance in 2016.  Two wins and six top-five finishes in 2015-2016 propelled The Fighting Irish to their ninth straight NCAA Regional Appearance. 

 

Kent State

Head Coach – GREG ROBERTSON

Previous Finishes – 4TH (2014), 7TH (2013)

The Kent State Wildcats are making their third trip to The Schooner Fall Classic.  The Golden Flashes won six tournaments in 2015-2016 including winning their 18th consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship and finished the year ranked 16th nationally.

 

LSU

Head Coach – KAREN BAHNSEN
Key Returner – KATHLEEN GALLAGHER (SOPHOMORE)
Previous Finishes – 11TH (2014), t3RD (2013)

The LSU Tigers return to The Schooner Fall Classic in 2016 after taking a year hiatus from the event.  The Tigers finished the 2015-16 campaign ranked 51st nationally.  LSU has made 22 out of 24 NCAA Regional appearances.

 

Kansas

Head Coach – Erin O’Neil

Previous Finishes – 4th (2015)

The Kansas Jayhawks make their second trip to The Schooner Fall Classic in 2016.  Former Jayhawk, Yupaporn won the individual honors at The 2015 Schooner Fall Classic and tied the course record in the first round by shooting 63.  Their 2015-2016 season included three top-five finishes. 

 

Iowa State

Head Coach – CHRISTIE MARTENS
Key Returner – CHAYANIT WANGMAHAPORN (SOPHOMORE)
Previous Finishes – First Appearance

The Iowa State Cyclones will be making their first appearance at The Schooner Fall Classic this fall.  The Cyclones had a great 2015-16 campaign where they finished top-five 7 times.  They finished the year ranked 21st nationally.  Returning every player from last year's very young team, they are poised for a great run in 2016-2017.

 
 

University of Alabama

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide will be making their first appearance at The 2016 Schooner Fall Classic.  Eight top-five finishes including four wins during the 2015-2016 campaign.  The Crimson Tide finished the year ranked 3rd nationally.
